Launching Family Formation!

Dear Families,

I would like to extend my gratitude for your flexibility and adventurous spirit as we have continued Faith Formation during this time of quarantine. What a blessing that passing on the faith continues in each of our Domestic Churches (homes!) being supported by our catechists and priests through very creative means! Thank you!

As we look forward to a new season of Faith Formation, I would like to share with you a new direction we are taking and the exciting adventure that awaits us!

Kindergarten through 5th Grade

There will be some changes with Faith Formation for K-5 grade. We will be using a new format called Family Formation. This is a brief overview of how it works: families come together on the first Sunday of each month for family catechesis. There will be classes for the children and a separate class for the parents. This is not a drop off model. Parents play an integral part in this model. At this session, not only will parents learn alongside their kids, you will also be equipped with all the tools and materials you need to continue formation at home. You will work with your kids at home in short and easy to share lessons for the following three weeks.

What is exciting about this model:

  • The whole family shares in the Faith in a very powerful and meaningful way

  • Bonding between parents and children in encouraged

  • Catechists work in a supportive role, allowing parents to be the primary educator of their children

  • If we face a “second wave”, another shutdown, or bad winter weather, Faith Formation will not be interrupted.

  • Family Formation follows the three-year liturgical cycle of the Church, making it easy to connect what is learned with what is experienced in the Mass

  • This program is also FREE for your family! We will not be charging for enrollment. Your contribution comes through your increased involvement in this process! (Registration is required however.)

Our first Family Life meeting will be October 4 at St. John’s School Cafeteria. (Time to be determined.)

Registration is open now. The registration form can be downloaded from the Church website or I can email it to you. If you would like a form mailed to you, let me know. As always, I am here to answer any questions you may have. Please register by September 20.

Middle School and High School

Our youth ministries will resume on September 20 at the Faith Formation Center, 6PM. Adaptations for social distancing and safe snacking are in place. We are looking forward to a dynamic year growing in faith and Christian service together! These ministries are still using the drop off model. However, we do ask that you register your child, using the same registration form. Forms will also be available on September 20, directly from the catechists.

May God bless us all as we strive to form ourselves in Faith and fit ourselves for heaven. “Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our Faith…” Hebrews 12:2

May Our Lady, Queen of Families intercede for us!
